Hahnville Lady Tigers dropped in softball playoff quarter finals

The Hahnville Lady Tigers were unable to overcome a second inning scoring streak by Mt. Carmel and lost in quarter final playoffs in Sulphur.
The Lady Tigers were 2-1 against Mt. Carmel in three close regular season matchups before heading into today’s game.
The game got off to a bad start for Hahnville when Mt. Carmel put two on base with one out in the first inning, but Lauren Simar was able to turn a double play to prevent a score.
Simar also showed up on offense in the bottom of the first when she knocked a line drive out of the park for a 1-0 lead. However, that would be Hahnville’s only lead of the game.
Mt. Carmel came back in the top of the second inning scoring three runs off a double and a Hahnville error.
In top of fifth inning Mt. Carmel added a run off a sacrifice fly by Samantha Dares to take a 4-1 lead over Hahnville.
Pepper Baker narrowed the gap in the sixth after knocking in an RBI off a single to make it 4-2, but that would be the last Hahnville score of the game.
Mt. Carmel scored again in the top of the seventh inning and held onto a 5-2 lead to close out the game and Hahnville’s fifth straight consective state tournmaent appearance.
