Lady Tigers cruise past Destrehan to complete season sweep
By Jonathan Menard - Apr 11, 2013
The Hahnville Lady Tigers jumped on top of Destrehan 5-0 in the second inning and coasted to a 7-1 win to complete a season sweep of the Lady Wildcats.
The last time the two teams faced each other, Hahnville had to come from behind in order to pull out a 7-5 win. This time, the Lady Tiger bats got going early and pitcher Lauren Beadle held Destrehan at bay throughout the game.
The Lady Tigers took a 2-0 lead in the second on a double by Kaylyn Morales and extended the lead to 3-0 on a RBI double by Maeson Martindale. Megan Bush singled to drive in two more runs.
In the third, Hahnville stretched their advantage to 6-0 after a costly Destrehan error.
The Lady Wildcats finally got on the board in the bottom of the fourth after Anna Hall knocked a single to left that brought home Nicole Haydel.
But that was as close as Destrehan would get. Hahnville added the final run of the game in the seventh to secure the win.
Beadle earned the win after giving up seven hits and striking out five in seven innings. Hall suffered the loss for Destrehan, giving up seven hits and six earned runs in seven innings. She struck out one in the game.
Pepper Baker led Hahnville from the plate, going 2-for-3 with two doubles. Bush and Morales each had two RBIs on a pair of doubles, while Martindale drove in a run.
Haydel was Destrehanís top hitter, going 2-for-3. Hall finished with her teamís only RBI.
