Former DHS player sets NFL team record 98-yard punt return longest in Eagles’ By Mike Detillier - Dec 06, 2012
Former Destrehan High School standout wide receiver/return specialist Damaris Johnson established a new Philadelphia Eagles record Sunday night against the Dallas Cowboys. In the closing moments of the 38-33 loss to the Cowboys, Johnson returned a punt 98 yards for a touchdown. The touchdown was the longest punt return for a score in franchise history and the third longest punt return in NFL history. Johnson, who is a reserve wide receiver, also caught one pass for 13 yards in the contest. The NCAA all-purpose record holder for total yardage in a career has seen quite a bit of action over the last few weeks in a reserve role, but the Philadelphia Eagles, who were considered Super Bowl contenders when the season started, have been a major disappointment.
