Congress shouldn’t cut drill pay Letters to the Editor - Sep 13, 2012
Dear Editor, Visit www.ngaus.org for information on the bills. If you read the July 9 edition of the NGAUS news link, it really puts into perspective how our servicemen and women as Citizen Soldiers have been mischaracterized. Congress is seriously considering cutting drill pay IN HALF for all members of the Reserve component. They also want to increase their health insurance monthly premiums and prescription co-pay amounts. Considering all of the work they do during the year and the effort they put into their jobs, they simply cannot afford to have their pay reduced by half and their insurance premiums increased. If you oppose this, visit the "Write to Congress" webpage, which will ask for your zipcode. Afterward another page will open listing several legislative issues regarding the National Guard and Reserves. I am asking each of you consider opposing issue numbers 12-12 and 12-7. Simply click on the issues and fill in the personal information boxes. The opposition letter is already composed and will be mailed to your specific congressman or congresswoman. You will need to include your phone number or it will not submit. I hope that you will join me in communicating opposition of these bills to our elected officials.
