Grand jury indicts teen in St. Rose murder
Kyle Barnett - Aug 02, 2012
Keywine Bradford, 16, was indicted for murder by a grand jury last week in the May shooting death of a 19-year-old St. Rose man, according to the victimís father, Leo Mealey.
Bradford, along with 19-year-old Leslie Reed, have been held in connection with the murder of Jared Mealey. Jared was found shot to death in his car on the 400th block of Turtle Creek Lane in the Preston Hollow subdivision in St. Rose on May 29.
Both Bradford and Reed have been charged with second-degree murder and have implicated each other in the shooting.
According to court documents, Reed said Bradford showed up at his house shortly after the shooting and admitted to being the gunman, whereas Bradford claims he was at the murder scene when Reed asked him to wave Jaredís car down before Reed opened fire.
Leo said due to a gag order issued on the case the family waited in a separate room to find out the grand jury results.
"I think we have the right people. The two they have right now are the ones responsible. Whether weíll find out who pulled the trigger, I donít know," Leo said. "I would be satisfied that both of them get charged, and if we have to make deals and get them to spend some time in jail I would be alright with that."
Reed is scheduled to face a grand jury next week.
The arraignment for Bradford is expected to take place Aug. 7 at 10 a.m. At that hearing the suspect will be asked to enter a plea of guilty or not guilty.
