Catfish Queens named

On Saturday June 2, the Louisiana Catfish Festival held its annual Queen’s Pageant in Des Allemands.
The new La. Catfish Queen XXXVII is Skyla Noelle Webster of Morgan City. Skyla is the 19 year old daughter of Jennifer Webster and Kevin Burt. She is currently attending Omega Institute of Cosmetology with the hopes to one day open her own salon. Skyla’s interests are baking, swimming, and scrap booking. Along with winning the title she also won the Miss Congeniality, Evening Gown, Sportswear, and Photogenic awards.
The 2012 La. Catfish Teen Queen XVII is Kelsea Leigh Glorioso of Meraux. She is the 14-year-old daughter of Crissy Arcement. She is in the 10th grade at Cabrini High School and she enjoys drawing, photography, reading, and decorating things. Kelsea also won the Evening Gown, Sportswear, and Photogenic awards.
The 2012 La. Catfish Jr. Queen XXX is Emily Catherine Witt. Emily is the 11-year-old daughter of Earl and Mandy Witt of Paradis. Emily is in the 6th grade at J.B Martin Middle School. She enjoys art, dancing, tumbling, and singing. Emily won the Miss Congeniality, Evening Gown, Sportswear, and Photogenic awards. All three young ladies are thrilled and excited to travel the state and represent the town and people of Des Allemands.
The 2012 Granny Catfish XVII is Mrs. Myrtle Naquin of Des Allemands. She has been working the festival since it began and has followed the festival through many changes over the years.
She has been quilting with many other ladies for many years to produce the beautiful quilt raffled each year. She has been working the Country Store for years and she loves being a part of the festival as a volunteer and pillar of the community.

Michelle Fonseca- 1st Runner up, People’s Choice, and Top Interview (White Dress next to the Miss Queens)
Lauren Bass- 1st Runner up, People’s Choice, Top Interview, and Miss Congeniality (Black dress bext to Teen Queen)
Ashlyn Ledet- 1st Runner up and People’s Choice (Purple dress next to Jr. Queen)
