Apply now for Sheriff’s scholarship
From staff and wire reports - Feb 02, 2012
Sheriff Greg Champagne will award a scholarship providing assistance to a worthy St. Charles Parish student in furthering their education and training with resources made available through the Louisiana Sheriffs’ Honorary Membership Program. It will be awarded to a graduating high school senior living in St. Charles Parish.
According to the program chair, Sheriff Greg Champagne, the scholarship program is a meaningful expression of the program’s respect for education. Scholarships of $500 each will be awarded. There are no restrictions on the purposes for which scholarship funds are spent. The funds are not a loan and will be awarded as gifts to defray the rising cost of tuition and related expenses. The only limitations are that applicants be permanent residents of Louisiana, that scholarships be utilized in higher education within Louisiana and that students be enrolled as full-time undergraduates.
Complete applications must be submitted to the Sheriff’s Office by April 1. Applicants must be eligible for admission to the school indicated on the application. All scholarship winners will be announced by May 1. For further information on the scholarship program, contact Susie Gauthier at (985)783-1355.
