An oil fire on the grounds of the Waterford 1 and 2 power plants was extinguished on Sunday, according to the St. Charles Parish Emergency Operations Center.

The fire was never a threat to public safety and was not responsible for power outages in the Hahnville and Luling area, according to the EOC.

The fire was contained on the grounds of the fossil fuel plants and no injuries were reported. The fire had no impact on the Waterford 3, the nuclear plant upriver from the other plants.
