Andrews

Euna Songy Andrews, age 93, passed away on Oct. 25 at Oaks Care Center in Pineville. Beloved wife of the late Charles L. Andrews, Sr., mother to Euna F. Reschke, Barbara A. Jochetz and husband James, Charles L. Andrews Jr. and wife Jane, and Gordon L. Andrews and wife Cynthia, grandmother of 15 and great-grandmother of 18. Daughter of the late P.G. Songy and Elia Simon Songy, sister of Odile Vaello of McAllen, Texas, Gertrude Malone of Westwego, Mrs. E.J. Caire III of Metaire and the late A.A. Songy Sr., Edward Joseph Songy, Gerard E. Songy, Ludevine Stokes, Elise King and Elma Gendron. She was born on Oct. 10, 1910, on Evergreen Plantation in Wallace, was a graduate of Dominican College in New Orleans and was the first special education teacher in St. Charles Parish. She was a charter member of the River Road Historical Society and served as a French-speaking tour guide and festival volunteer.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Oct. 29 at St. John the Baptist Church in Edgard, followed by burial in St. Charles Borromeo Mausoleum in Destrehan.

Bonner

Elizabeth Bergeron Bonner, a native of Houma and resident of Des Allemands, passed away on Oct. 4. She was 79 years old.

She is survived by her son, Peter Billiot Jr., daughters Mary Ferris and Sherry Lee, brother Elie J. Bergeron, sisters Lucille Chutter, Louise Ordoyne and Rita Morvant, four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Earl Bonner, parents Camille Bergeron Sr. and Selvena Guillot Bergeron, and brothers Camille Bergeron Jr. and Henry Bergeron.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Oct. 6 at Des Allemands Baptist Church.

Clark

Ruffin Lavelle Clark, a native of Ringgold and resident of Thibodaux, passed away on May 16. He was 87 years old.

Mr. Clark is survived by his daughters, Elizabeth Dianne Clark and Carolyn Lee Clark Staton, sister Gladys Berry, five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and six nieces. He is preceded in death by his wife, Jessie Lee Saffold Clark, parents Arnold Terrice Clark and Willie Elizabeth Wimberly Clark, brothers Brady and Sydney Clark and sisters Billie Bartlett and Eunice Phillips.

Religious Services were held on Oct. 17 at the Thibodaux Funeral Home, followed by interment at St. Joseph Cemetery.

Cleveland

John H. “Admiral” “Skeeze” Cleveland passed away on Oct. 21. He was 80 years old.

A native and lifelong resident of Hahnville, Mr. Cleveland was retired from Shell Oil Company, a member of Holy Rosary Church and a member of VFW Post #131. He was a veteran of the US Navy, having served aboard the aircraft carrier USS Suwannee, and was a recipient of the Purple Heart.

He is the son of the late George E. and Lucy Keller Cleveland, brother of Marguerite C. Landeche, Lucy C. Dube and the late George E. Jr., James A. and Robert A. Cleveland. He is also survived by a niece, Patricia Haydel, and a great-nephew, Donald Haydel III.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Oct. 24 at Holy Rosary Church in Hahnville.

Comardelle

Phillip A. Comardelle passed away on Oct. 19. He was 46 years old.

The son of Ethel Adams Comardelle and the late Clifton P. Comardelle, brother of Wayne Comardelle and Ruby Hackman, he is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Services were held on Oct. 22. at Des Allemands Mennonite Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Des Allemands Mennonite Church Scholarship Fund.

Falgou

David Jude Falgout, Sr., passed away on Oct. 16 following a courageous battle with cancer. He was 59 years old.

A native and lifelong resident of St. Rose, he is survived by his wife of 32 years, Ione M. Falgout, son David J. Falgout Jr., daughter Anna Piner and her husband Eric, brothers Bobby and George Falgout, sisters Louise Morici, Doris Bertucci and Audrey Naquin, grandchildren Cassie A. and Eric W. Piner and a host of relatives and friends. He is the son of the late Louis and Agatha Weber Falgout.

A graveside service was held on Oct. 18 at Alexander Funeral Home in Lutcher.

Frickey

Eva Adams Frickey, a native of Raceland and resident of Bayou Gauche, passed away on Oct. 28. She was 76 years old.

She is survived by her sons, Lloyd “L.J.” Frickey and wife Dorcas, Richard Frickey Jr. and wife Rebecca, her brothers Harris Jr., Nicholas, Russell and Vincent Adams, sisters Ethel Comardelle, Enola Guidry and Corine Girior, grandchildren Brian Authement, Jessica, Joshua, Seth and Isaiah Frickey and two great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard “R.J.” Frickey Sr., parents Harris Adams Sr. and Florine Bergeron Adams, brothers Douglas, Loveless and Edward Adams and grandchild Tabitha Frickey.

Religious services were held on Oct. 31 at Community Assembly of God Church in Bayou Gauche.

Hebert

Garett M. Hebert passed away on Oct. 29 in Hattiesburg, Miss. in an automobile accident. He was 22 years old.

A native of Destrehan and resident of Hattiesburg for the past five years, he was a 1999 graduate of Destrehan High School and a senior at USM studying computer software technology with an emphasis on graphic design. He was a third degree black belt in karate and the founder of the “Bougalee Rebels” Jazz Band, where he played lead saxophone.

He is survived by his wife, Natoshia Hebert, father Gary Hebert, mother Yvonne Laurent, father-in-law Thomas Schreiner and mother-in-law Lynne Schreiner, brothers Blake, Joshua, Brandon and Brett Hebert, grandparents U.J. “Bud” Laurent and Joann, Marguerite Hebert, Shirley and sidney Myers and Sylvia Schreiner, godparents Kathryn Weber and James Hebert and a host of other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Russell Hebert, and grandfather-in-law Charles Chreiner.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Nov. 1 at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Destrehan. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the National Asthma Society.

Hollimon

Ronnie Ray Hollimon of Ruston passed away on Oct. 12. He was 48 years old.

Mr. Hollimon was a 1973 graduate of Hahnville High School, where he played on the state championship baseball team. He received a Bachelor’s Degree from LSU in 1977. He was a certified property manager, co-founder and vice president of Sunquest Properties of Monroe.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Debby Hollimon, daughter Casey Rae Hollimon and sons Jake and Neal Hollimon, parents Hugh and Shirley Hollimon, brother Alan Hollimon, sisters Connie Madere, Donnie Hollimon and Penny Harrell, and nieces and nephews Jason, Jarrod, Emily, Ryan, Zac, Katie, Jennifer, Stefanie, Hannah, Harper and Brody.

A Memorial Service will be held on Oct. 21 at Cook Baptist Church Sanctuary in Ruston. Memorials may be made to the Cook Baptist Church Seminary Fund or to the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home.

Johnson

Ronald “Pops” Lee Johnson, a native of Moline, Ill. and resident of Garyville, passed away on Oct. 3. He was 61 years old.

Mr. Johnson, a U.S. Navy veteran, is survived by his wife, Cathy Johnson, mother-in-law Betty Harrell, son Steven Johnson and his wife Caroll, daughter Kim Jameson and her husband Bob, brother Alan Pinter, sister Karen Wetteland, grandchildren Gabrielle Jameson and Kathryn Johnson, numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Lee Johnson.

Private gaveside services were held on Oct. 6. The family would like to extend a special thanks to River Region Hospice for their loving care and support.

MacKenzie

Jewel Lenore Link MacKenzie passed away on Oct. 15. A native of Rayne and 46-year resident of Destrehan, she was 76 years old.

She was the daughter of the late Gina S. and Clyde W. Link and sister of the late Rose Marie Foreman. She is survived by her children and their spouses: Dr. Michael MacKenzie and wife Terry, Laura Barrios and husband Ray, Deborah Welshons and husband Kenneth, Stephen MacKenzie and wife Lee, Carol Wright and husband Walter and Jeanne Christos Vrakas, 13 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and her loving husband, L.L. “Bill” MacKenzie.

Jewel was an active parishoner at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church and recipient of the St. Louis Medallion Award this year. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Oct. 16 at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Destrehan, and she was laid to rest on Oct. 17 in Crowley.

Matherne

Raymond Joseph “June” Matherne passed away on Oct. 11. He was 72 years old. He was the husband of Earline Ledet “Lynn” Matherne of Norco, son of the late Raymond and Beatrice Fabre Matherne, father of Jayne M. and Bruce Verdin, Pamela and Ladd Barado, Brian A. Matherne, Dwayne P. and Stacy Matherne, Dean C. and Valerie Matherne and Vince A. Matherne, and 12 grandchildren.

Mr. Matherne was a US Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of the Spillway Post American Legion Post #195.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Oct. 14 at Sacred Hearth Catholic Church in Norco. In lieu of flowers, masses are preferred.

Robicheux

Mary Alice Trepagnier Robicheux passed away on Oct. 8. She was 68 years old.

She is survived by former husband Robert Robicheaux, daughter Diane Allen and her husband Ernest, son Steve Robicheaux and his wife Robin, son Douglas Robicheaux and his wife Pam, son Todd Robicheaux and his wife Sarah, son John Robicheaux and his wife Paula, brother Mitchell Trepagnier, sister-in-law Deanie Trepagnier, grandchildren Jason, Jared, Chad, Dane, Ashley, Brandon, Emily, Maxfield, Mary, Zachary and Logan. She is preceded in death by her parents, Hypolite J. and Louise St. Martin Trepagnier and brothers Harry and George Trepagnier.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Oct. 7 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Norco. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to River Region Hospice, 12715 Highway 90, Ste. 220, Luling, La. 70070, or to the American Cancer Society.

Tong

Jimmy Tong passed away on Oct. 28. He was 9 years old.

Jimmy was a native and lifelong resident of Destrehan and a fourth-grade student at Ethel Schoffner Elementary School. He is survived by his parents, Philong Tong and Lan Hoang Tong, and is brother, Hoangnam Tong. Mass was held on Nov. 1 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Destrehan.

Toups

Vickie Lynn Badeaux Orgeron Toups, a native of Gheens and resident of St. Charles Parish, passed away on Oct. 11. She was 38 years old.

She is survived by husband Roddy Toups, former husband Brent Orgeron, mother Mary Ann Delatte Martin, stepfather Nolan Martin, stepmother Lorraine Badeaux, son Seth Orgeron, daughters Brittany Orgeron and Kajun and Hali Toups, brothers Barry and Eric Badeaux, stepbrothers Lester, Scott and Kirby Martin, sister Raenell Badeaux and stepsister Dedra Henson. She is preceded in death by her father, Albert Badeaux, Jr., stepbrother Harold Loveless and stepsister Nanette Loveless.

Religious services will be held today at 11 a.m. at Falgout Funeral Home in Lockport.
