Naquin

Betty Klibert Naquin, a native of Garyville and a resident of Luling, died on May 31. She was 66.

Beloved of wife of the late John R. Naquin. Mother of Jill N. Savoie, Charlene N. Chiasson, and Darren J. Naquin. Sister of Dorothy K. Roussel, Lloyd Klibert, the late Harold Klibert and the late Armuntine Oubre Klibert. Mother in law of Warren Savoie Jr. and Adrian Chiasson. Grandmother of Ryan Chiasson, Megan Chiasson and Luke Savoie.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, June 3 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Luling. Entombment followed St. Charles Mausoleum in Luling. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the American Cancer Society or Holy Catholic Church.

Comardelle

Vivian Matherne Comardelle, a native of Gheens and a resident of Des Allemands died on Friday, May 31 at age 84.

Comardelle was a member of St. Gertrude Ladies Altar Society. Beloved mother of Jackie Cheramie, Genevieve Frickey, JoAnn Rogers, Era Jane Toney, Walter Comardelle, and Murphy Comardelle. Sister of Norman, Nerman, Johnny Matherne. She is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Willie Comardelle. Parents Joseph and Mercedese Schouest Matherne. Sisters Mabel Hogan, Nora Abadie, Emma Falcon.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday June 3 at St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Des Allemends. Entombment followed at Mennonite Cemetery in Des Allemands.

Waguespack

Harris A. Waguespack Jr., a native and resident of Lockport, died June 1. He was 88.

Waquespack was retired from the La. Department of Transportation and Development. He was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus, a member of the Lockport Volunteer Fire Department, and an usher at Holy Savior Church.

Beloved husband of Mae Degruise Waguespack. Father of Mary W. Weimer, Evelyn W. Dupuy, and Janet W. Owens. Brother of Annie Waguespack and Marion Waguespack. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents, Harris Waguespack Sr. and Josephine Melancon Waguespack. Sisters Gleo W. LeCompte and Anna Mae W. McClain.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday, June 4 at Holy Savior Catholic Church in Lockport. Entombment followed at Holy Savior Cemetery.

Braud

Robert Gilbert Braud, a retired Shell Oil employee and charter member of the Marshal Duck Clud, died Friday, June 7 at Ochsner Foundation Hospital. He was 92 years old.

Braud was a native of Prairieville and a resident of Norco for the past 73 years. He is survived by his beloved wife Marguerite ‘Maggie’ Marchand Braud. Father and father-in-law of Maycel Braud Joseph, the late Betrous ‘Joe’ Joseph, Clark Braud and Vicki Braud, Arlen Braud and Karen Braud, and the late Robert Gilbert, Jr. He was the last living son of the late Gilbert P. Braud and Sarazine Braud of Prairieville and the brother of the late Emile, James and Pamala Braud and Martha Babin. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, June 11 at Sacred Heart Catholic CHurch in Norco. Entombment followed at Prairieville Cementery in Prairieville.

 

Dufrene

Joseph G. Dufrene, a retired pipefitter at Avondale Shipyard, died Friday June 7 of cardiopulmonary arrest at West Jefferson Medical Center. He was 76.

Dufrene, a native of Raceland, was a resident of Westwego for 53 years. He was an Army veteran and received the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon, Victory Ribbon, European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon with two bronze stars, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Philippine Independence Ribbon and Good Conduct Medal.

He is survived by his son Dennis P. Dufrene and his daughter Jeanelle D. Odom. Brother of Aman Dufrene, Ida Toups, Earline Badeaux and Julia Chaisson. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday June 10 at Mothe Funeral Home on Marrero and Burial followed at Heaven Mausoleum in Westwego.

Alexander

Duane Louis Alexander, a native of Luling and a resident of Brooklyn, N.Y. died on June 9. He was 37.

Alexander was the beloved son of Hubert and Dolores Rabalais Alexander. Brother of Rickie ALexander, Darlene Buras, Stephanie Alexander, and Kris Cornish. He was the grandson of Dlo Rabalais and the late Penn Rabalais.

Troxclair was a graduate of Hahnville High School.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend memorial services today at 10 am at H.C. Alexander Funeral Home of Norco.

Gearheard

Marguerite Faucheux Gearheard, a native and life long resident of Lutcher died at her home on Friday. She was 91.

Gearheard was beloved wife of the late Arthur Grant “A.G.” Gearheard Jr. She was mother of William J. “Bill” Gearheard and his wife Connie of Mandeville, the late Arthur “Grant” Gearheard III, and Margo Gearheard Jacobs. She was sister of Myrtis Faucheux Blount of Kenner. Gearheard was also survived by 10 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Gearheard was a homemaker, a past member of the Catholic Daughters and active in many church activities.

A Mass of Christian burial was held on Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pauline. Interment followed at St. Joseph Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Perrilloux

Ricky Paul Perrillioux, a native of Hahnville and a resident of St. Rose, died on Friday. He was 42.

Perrillioux is survived by his parents Oliver and Lynn Perrillioux; his sons, Dustin, Scott, and Ricky Perrillioux Jr.; his daughters, Brandi and Katie Perrillioux. He is also survived by his brothers Oliver, Allen, Neal, Bryan, Gary and Corey Perrillioux and Benny Williams; and his sisters Rita Horn, Regina Rodriguez, Jessica St. Pierre, Mary Williams, and Stephanie Williams.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Clara Neal Williams; his brother, Donnie Glynn; and his grandparents Felicia and Oliver Perrillioux.

A Mass of Christian burial was held Monday at St. Hilary Catholic Church in Raceland. Entombment followed at St, Hilary Mausoleum.

 

Brown

Dana “Chris” Brown, a supervisor of St. Charles Mosquito Control, died June 8 of a heart attack. He was 50 years old.

Brown, a native of Salisbury, Penn., was a resident of Boutte for the past 13 years. He was the beloved husband of Kathleen Blanchard Brown. Step-father of Ed Raymond Veillon Jr. of Paradis and Tammy Veillon Pfeil.

Brown was the son of Ralph and Laura Brown of Salisbury. Brother of Nick Brown and Bonny Mull. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Denis Gray Jr., Ed Raymond Veillon III, Deavon Pfeil.

Services were held on Tuesday, June 11. Burial followed in Salisbury, Penn on Friday June 14.
