| Antonio |
Harry Antonio, a native of Taft and resident of Lucy, died on Sept.
7.
He was the son of the late Mable Ruffin and Oscar Antonio, and
brother of Edgar Antonio, Walter, James, Joseph, John and Lilly
Ruffin, Marie Isaac, the late Oscar Jr., Albert, Alvin, Isiah and
Evelyn Ruffin.
A funeral service was held at Philadelphia Baptist Church in Hahnville
on Sept. 17, followed by interment at Greenhill Cemetery in Taft.

| Bennett |
Joseph Bennett, a native and resident of Thibodaux, died on Sept.
12. He was 73 years old.
He was son of the late Essay and Eugene Bennett, husband of the
late Leona Isaac, father of Janice Harris, Gloria Bourgeois, Stephanie
Caldwell, Milton, Betty, Bobby, Ricky, Carolyn and Brian Isaac and
the late Grace Isaac, brother of Celeste Jackson, Aldoris Smith,
Geraldine Southhall, Cecile, Mary, Selna, Ernest, Couldy, Richard
Oscar and the late August Bennett. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren,
13 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives
and friends.
A funeral was held at Moses Baptist Church in Thibodaux on Sept.
20, followed by interment at Greenhill Cemetery in Taft.

| Carr |
William Denis Carr of Hammond died on Sept. 15. He was 54 years
old.
He is the beloved husband of the late Bonnie Hymel Carr, loving
father of Jennifer Gaudin of Lafayette and Casey, Kelley and Aaron
Carr of Hammond and son of the late Edward W. Carr and Emma D. Usher.
He is also survived by four grandchildren, four brothers and ten
sisters.
A Catholic Prayer Service was held on Sept. 19 at H.C. Alexander
Funeral Home in Norco, followed by interment at St. Charles Borromeo
Mausoleum in Destrehan.

| Davis |
Yvonne P. Davis, a native and resident of Killona,
died on Sept. 10 at St. Charles Hospital in Luling. She was 91 years
old.
She is daughter of the late Katherine and Gilliaum Pierre, wife
of the late Rev. Dr. John By. Davis, Jr.; mother of Evelyn Funches;
sister of Florence P. Bernette, Gilliaum Jr., Preston and Alvin
Pierre; the late Ida Pierre, Theresa Martin, Rosa Marshall and Alexander
Pierre; sister-in-law of Annie Mae Pierre and Elnora Pierre. She
is also survived by five grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren,
10 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other
relatives and friends.
A wake service was held at Children of Israel Baptist Church on
Sept. 15, with a dismissal service on Sept. 16, followed by interment
at Holy Rosary Cemetery in Taft.

| Griffin |
Barbara “Bobby” Ann Hobbs Griffin, a loving child care provider,
died on Sept. 13 at Chabert Medical Center from multiple organ failure.
She was 49 years old.
A native of Avondale, she resided in Luling for the past 33 years.
She was born on Nov. 27, 1955, to Margeret Hobbes Ruffin and the
late L.D. Hobbs. In 1972 she married Lloyd A. Griffin III. They
had two children, Angelique Griffin Williams and Kelly A. Griffin.
At a young age she accepted Christ and was baptised at Second
St. John Baptist Church in Avondale by the late Rev. J.H. McNealy.
She was a graduate of Hahnville High School.
A funeral will be held on Sept. 24 at First Baptist Church, 14571
Old Spanish Trail, Paradis. Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. Burial
will be at Restlawn cemetery in Avondale.

| Hill |
Wilbert T. “Bill” Hill, Sr., a native of Paradis and resident of
Boutte, died on Sept. 13. He was 77 years old.
He was the son of the late Joseph L. and Lizzie Brown Hill, beloved
husband of Geraldine D. Hill, father of Gwendolyn Scott, Regina
Hill, Mathilda Alexander, Garland Hill and the late Wilbert T. Hill
Jr., brother of Roland, Donald and Warren “Nick” Hill, the late
Melvin, Clyde, Leonard, Joe and Dorothy Hill, Lela Hill William,
Carolyn H. Markey, Gloria Hill and Albertine Turner. He is also
survived by eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a
host of nieces, nephews, adopted sons and daughters, other relatives
and friends.
A funeral service was held oat Mt. Airy Baptist Church in Boutte
on Sept. 21, followed by interment at Mt. Airy Memorial Park Cemetery
in Boutte.

| Ledet |
Edward Joseph Ledet Sr., a native of Lockport and resident of Bayou
Gauche, died on Sept. 8. He was 62 years old.
Mr. Ledet is survived by his wife of 42 years, Marlene Hebert
Ledet, son Edward J. Ledet. Jr., daughters Donna L. Reagan and Rachel
L. Cortez, brother Houson Ledet, sisters Betty L. Ordoyne and Clara
L. Gros, 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is preceded
in death by his parents, Anderson and Emelda Matherne Ledet and
brothers Steven and Urie Ledet.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Sept. 12 at Samart Funeral
Home in Raceland, followed by burial at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family to aid in
funeral expenses.

| Loveless |
Alma “Lucille” Blann Loveless, a native of
Hampton, Ark. and resident of Luling, died on Sept. 9. She was 81
years old.
She is survived hy her husband, W.T. “Tee”
Loveless, son Pat Loveless, daughters Judy Cornwell and Pam White,
sisters Mable Kirksey and Bevelya Jo Delaney, seven grandchildren
and 13 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents,
Jettie Van Blann and Barbara Ila Strickland Blann and brother Jettie
Leo Blann.
Religious services were held on Sept. 13 at
Boutte Assembly of God Church, followed by burial at St. Charles
Cemetery in Luling.

| Luttrell |
Annie Lee Luttrell, a native and resident of Natchitoches and former
resident of Luling, died on Sept. 17. She was 91 years old.
She was a retired office manager of Valley Electric Membership
Corp, a member of First Baptist Church of Luling, La. and former
member of Westside Baptist Church of Natchitoches, La.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ruben Quincey Luttrell,
sister, Verta Lee Cooley; parents, Jodie Andrew Green and Emma Mathis
Green.
She is survived by two daughters, Joanne Hughes and husband Charles
of Shreveport, La. and Jill Taylor and husband Wesley of Aroda,
Va.; two sons, Clifford Luttrell and wife Pat of Luling, La. and
Barney Luttrell and wife Karla of Hoover, Al.; nine grandchildren
Jan Simpson and husband Ben of Brandon, Ms., Wendy Aucoin and husband
Michael, Holly Fonseca and husband Clarence all of Luling, La.,
Laurie Luttrell of Prairieville, La., Christopher Taylor and wife
Robin of Stanardsville, Va., Cara Gunnell and husband Scott of Faber,
Va., Paige Luttrell, Casey Luttrell, and Joey Beth Luttrell all
of Hoover, Al. and seven great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held on Sept. 20 in Fern Park Cemetery
with Rev. Todd Hallman officiating.

Nobbie V. Martin, a native of Labadieville
and lifelong resident of Luling, died on Sept. 7. She was 91 years
old.
She was wife of the late Campbell V. Martin,
daughter of the late Texson Vicnair and Adelina Gross Vicnair, mother
of the late Betty M. Domanque (Charlie), Kemper Martin (Carol Talbot)
and Doris M. Naquin (Merlin), grandmother of Denise N. Champagne,
Merline N. Champagne, Lawrence M. Naquin and Holly N. Trahan. She
is preceded in death by three grandchildren, Ernie Young Jr., Ricky
L. Youngs and Connie Y. Madere. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren,
Joshua and Welcome Youngs and Brad, Erica, Monique and Cody Champagne.
She was also a member of the Busy Bees at
Holy Family Catholic Church.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held today
at 9 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Luling, followed by
interment at St. Charles Cemetery.

| Matherne |
Sidney J. Matherne, a native and resident of Bayou Gauche, died
on Sept. 17. He was 93 years old.
He is survived by his sons, Curlis, Roland and Gerald Matherne,
daughters Clairbell Thompson and Mary Ann Bourgeois, brothers Hector
and Victor Matherne, 20 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and
three great-great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his
wife, Alida Comardelle Matherne, parents Jacques and Henrietta S.
Matherne, son Lloyd Matherne, brothers Tony, Felix, Sam and Arthur
Matherne and one great-grandchild.
Services were held on Sept. 20 at St. Gertrude Catholic Church
in Des Allemands followed by burial at Sunset Cemetery in Bayou
Gauche.

Master Choyse Thames Spears died on Sept. 16 at St. Charles Hospital
in Luling. He was 22 months old.
A resident of Luling, he was the beloved son of Terrance Spears,
grandson of Delores and Leroy Hensley Sr., Patricia Spears and the
late Thomas Spears Sr., nephew of Thyron Spears, Leroy Hensley Jr.,
Terrie Hensley, Thomas, Thaddeus and Theend Spears and the late
Tanya Spears, great-grandson of Daniel Johnson, Willow Johnson and
Dorothy Hensley, great-nephew of Rita Bussey, Shirley Griffin, Willie
Gardner, Ernest Gardner, Kenneth Gardner, Clarence Gardner, Monique
Gauthier, Renaida Ingram, Joseph Hensley, Marie Webber, Matrethia
Johnson, Willanta Johnson, Walter Johnson, Ellion Johnson, Bobby
and Walter ricks, Betty Jones, Rickey and Chaney Spears and godson
of Darnelly Brown and Nickol Snow. He is also survived by a host
of cousins, relatives and friends. A funeral service will be held
at Third Zion Baptist Church, Highway 308, Raceland, on Sept. 24,
followed by interment at Restlawn Memorial Park.

Velma Triche, a native and resident of Ama, died on Sept. 14. She
was 78 years old.
She was daughter of the late Noble and Florestine Rollins Gross,
wife of the late Earl Louis Triche Sr., mother of Earl Jr., Diane,
Darrell, Gregory, Pamela Clark, Kenneth, Bernard, Roland and Brian
Triche and sister of Elsie Brown Dyer. She is also survived by eight
grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews
and other relatives and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Mark Catholic Church
in Ama on Sept. 21, followed by interment at Holy Rosary Cemetery
in Taft.

| Ulicsni |
Edward William Ulicsni Sr., a native of Cleveland
and resident of Destrehan, died on Sept. 12. He was 80 years old.
He was the beloved husband of Grace Vitrano
Ulicsni, father of Edward Jr., David and Brian Ulicsni and brother
of Irene Ulicsni Hruby of Cleveland. He is also survived by five
grandchildren.
He retired as airport supervisor of the New
Orleans Aviation Board. He was a veteran of World War II serving
in the US Army and a 40-year member of the Knights of Columbus of
Norco and member of the Stoulig Council in Kenner, the American
Legion in Destrehan and the American Association of Airport Executives.
Visitation will be held today at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church
in Destrehan from 10 a.m. until noon, followed by religious services.
Burial will be in the Church Cemetery.

Sedonia Williams, a native and resident of Killona, died on Sept.
10. She was 74 years old.
She was daughter of the late Rose Hopkins and James Williams,
mother of Donna R. Green, Yolanda Young, Enola Downing, LaVerne,
Johnson, Gaynell Williams, Edrington Raymond Jr., Foncello Lewis,
Sheila, Pamela, Althea, Devery, Bradford and Stacy James Williams
and sister of Mary Johnson and the late Rose and Ramona Williams,
Eddie, James, Richard and Raymond Williams Sr. She is also survived
by 37 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren
and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A funeral
service was held at Canaan Baptist Church in Killona on Sept. 17,
followed by interment at Greenhill Cemetery in Taft.

Melvin A. Woods III, a native and resident
of Destrehan, died on Sept. 11. He was 31 years old.
He was the son of Jacquelyn Bolden Burrell,
Lloyd Burrell and Melvin A. Woods Jr., father of Devaugh Colly and
Justin Sampson, brother of Lloyd Burrell Jr., Fabian Woods Sr. and
Corey Burrell and grandson of Corine Burrell. He is also survived
by a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
A funeral service was held at Antioch Baptist
Church in Boutte on Sept. 19, followed by interment at Shell Mound
Cemetery in Des Allemands.
