Abbate

Connie Ann Abbate, age 42, of Garyville, passed away on Feb. 11 at St. Charles Hospital. She is survived by her husband Peter Abbate, sons Peter Jr., Brad and Brett Abbate, daughter Brandie Abbate, brothers Alvin and Donald Louque, and sisters Sandra Anslum Susan Falcon and Carolyn Rizzuto. She is preceded in death by a grandson, Brad Paul Abbate Jr.

A funeral service was held on Feb. 13 at Alexander Funeral Home in Norco.

Anderson

Bradley David Anderson, a native of Dallas and resident of Destrehan, passed away on Feb. 5. He was 17 years old.

Bradley was an honor student, a member of the Wise Conservation Club, the Science Olympiad Team and a literary rally representative.

He is survived by his father, Gene Alden Anderson of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., mother Mary Beth Kugler Anderson of Destrehan, grandparents Charles J. and Thelma B. Kugler of Destrehan and Charles A. and Martha Anderson of McPherson, Kan., sister Callie Anderson of Destrehan and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Bradley D. Anderson at any Bank One Location. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Feb. 10 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Destrehan.

Campbell

Harry Lloyd Campbell, a native of Craigsville, Va. and resident of Destrehan, passed away on Feb. 22. He was 82 yeras old.

He is survived by his daughters, Kathy Aitken and Linda Hayes, and son Chuck Campbell, sister Ressie Alier, give grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be announced at a later date.

Comardelle

Josephine Adams Comardelle, a native of Gheens and resident of Des Allemands, passed away on Feb. 26. She was 83 years old.

Mrs. Comardelle is survived by her sons, Charles, Lawrence Jr., Thomas, Randy and Timothy Comardelle, her daughters Ethel Hotard and Peggy Matherne, 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her husband Lawrence “Yank” Comardelle Sr., her parents, Antoine Adams Sr. and Josephine Matherne Adams, her brothers Adolph, Alfred, Lucien, Joseph and Antoine Adams and her sisters Angeline Clulee, Elvire Comardelle and Estelle Comardelle.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Feb. 28 at St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Des Allemands.

Dufrene

Marguerite Brandt Dufrene, a native of Alliance and resident of Des Allemands, passed away on Feb. 13. She was 99 years old.

She is survived by her son, Brandt J. Dufrene, daughter Gwen Morel, sister Emma Lou Elston, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Alex N. and Ethel Conrad Brandt, brothers Hewitt “Bud” and Saxon R. Brandt, and sisters Ruby Reynolds, Doris Cognevich, Gladys Becnel and Ida Trieul.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Feb. 16 at St. Gertrude Catholic Church.

Dufrene

Whitney J. Dufrene, a native and resident of Des Allemands, passed away on Feb. 20. He was 90 years old.

He is survived by his son, Donald Dufrene, daughters Jackie Prejean, Jeanette Mouney, Mary Sirgo, Loretta Matherne and Betty Foret, brothers Ernest Dufrene and Lester Dufrene, sisters Verly Reeves and Myrtle Hoffman, 16 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife by first marriage Ethel Bernard Dufrene, wife by second marriage Alphonsine Trauth Dufrene, wife by third marriage Josephine Boudreaux Dufrene, parents Tousaint and Cecile Parks Dufrene, brothers Norris and Leonce Dufrene and sisters Glaze Chauven and Mae Toups.

Mr. Dufrene was retired from the Texaco plant in Paradis with 32 years od service.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Feb. 21 at St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Des Allemands.

Kelly

Mary Helen Kelly, a native of Mississippi and resident of Luling, passed away on Feb. 19 after a long battle with Leukemia. She was 73 years old.

She is survived by her son, Jerry Kenny, daughters Judy Burns and Janice Nicholas, brothers Charles, Lex and Billy Ray Ervin, 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Dora Ervin, son Jimmy Kelly and brothers Medford and Larry Ervin.

Plaisance

Shirley Rogers Plaisance, a native of Larose and resident of Cut Off, passed away on Feb. 14. She was 76 years old.

She is survived by her husband, David P. Plaisance, son Charles P. Plaisance, daughter Paula P. Guidry, brother Nolan Rogers, sisters Rose R. Cheramie, Ruth R. Eymard, Mabel R. Loflin and Geraldine R. Mayeur, and four grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Edar and Lydia L. Rogers, son Gary Gisclair Sr., brothers Cleveland Rogers and Early Rogers, and sister Carrie R. Cheramie.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Feb. 16 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cut Off.

Price

Linda Landry Price, a native of Luling and resident of Houma, passed away on Feb. 21. She was 44 years old.

She is survived by her parents, Wallace Joe Landry Sr. and Audrey Chatagnier, son Ronnie Price, daughters Nancy Landry, Carissa Landry and Jamie Price, brothers Mack Landry and Wallace Joe Landry Jr., and sister Brenda L. Grimes and her husband Glenn.

Ms. Price was a U.S. Army veteran. Services were held on Feb. 25 at Chauvin Funeral Home in Houma.

Stayton

David Neal Stayton, a native of Palestine, Ark. and former resident of Destrehan and Kenner, passed away on Feb. 16 in Houston. He was 82 years old.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Braud Stayton, son Bill Rieniets, daughters Marilyn Rieniets and Jeanne Stayton, three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Feb. 19 in Kenner, followed by burial at St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery in Destrehan.

Stone

John Paul Stone, a native and resident of Luling, passed away on Feb. 14. He was 21 years old.

Mr. Stone is survived by his parents, Fred J. Stone and Susan I. Stone, stepfather William R. Vernor, grandparents Raymond and Anna Pickett and Paul J. Stone, great-grandmother Sarah Clewis and sisters Barbie and Jamie Stone.

Religious services were held on Feb. 19 at Mt. Airy Cemetery in Boutte.

Taylor

Charles Michael “Mickey” Taylor of Luling passed away on Feb. 13 at St. Charles Hospital. He was 54 years old.

Born in Bastrop on Aug. 11, 1949, he is survived by his wife, Vickie Taylor, son Brennon Taylor, daughter Tiffanie Taylor, moter and step-father Mary Ruth and Prentis Allred, father and mother-in-law Ernest and Orpha McIntyre and brother Glen “Dick” Taylor. He is preceded in death by his father, Lemuel John “L.J.” Taylor.

Funeral services were held on Feb. 15 at Cox Funeral Home Chapel in Oak Grove. Pallbearers were Paul Barothy, Eddie Graebert, Dustin Jones, Harold Rigdon, Billy Sanders and Regan Wilkerson. Honorary pallbearers were Mark and Will Gorum.
