| Abbate |
Salvador Joseph Abbate, age 49, died on Dec. 20. He is survived
by his mother, Dora Abbate of LaPlace, brothers Michael Abbate of
LaPlace, Frank Abbate of Destrehan, Joseph Abbate of Albany, Peter
Abbate of Garyville and Ursin Abbate of Norco, sister Margurite
Abbate Weber of Holden and Frances Abbate Blunt of Ticklaw, and
19 nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Dec. 28 at H.C. Alexander Funeral
home, followed by entombment at St. Charles Borromeo Mausoleum.
In liue of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for funeral
expenses.

| Adams |
Leary Bernard Adams Sr., a resident of Las Vegas, died on Dec.
31. He was 76 years old.
Mr. Adams was a former New Orleans Police Officer and a veteran
of the Merchant Marines. He was a member of the Fraternal Order
of Police, the Forresters and the Colt .38 Gun Club.
He is survived by his sons, Leary B. Adams Jr. and wife Regina
and Eric J. Adams Sr. and wife Kaweeda of Las Vegas, Timothy J.
Adams Sr. and wife Sheila of Bowie, MD., and Keith A. Adams Sr.
of St. Rose, daughter Sandra A. Adams of Albuquerque, NM, brother
Orson Adams and wife Jennie of New Orleans, sister Joyce Adams of
New Orleans, 19 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Gwanda Adams, son Byron Anthony
Adams Sr. and brother Allie Adams Jr.
Memorial services were held on Jan. 6 at Bunker’s Mortuary in
Las Vegas. Mass servicers will be held today at James the Apostle
Catholic Church.

| Carmouche |
Ronald John Carmouche, a native of St. Rose and resident of Norco,
died on Dec. 18. He was 78 years old.
He was a retired self-employed former owner of RTL Corporation
and a veteran of World War II. He is survived by his wife, Lois
McKinney Carmouche, sons Ronald Carmouche II and Michael Carmouche,
daughters Cheryl Joslin, Wendy Eldredge and Tricia Lodge, sisters
Beverly Lousteau, Mae Salemi, Mildred Price and Lois LaGarde, brother
Terrell Carmouche, 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He
is preceded in death by his brother, Louis “Red” Carmouche.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Dec. 21 at Sacred Heart
of Jesus Catholic Church in Norco, officiated by Father Terry Hayden.
Pallbearers were Gary Eldredge, Robert Lodge, Harold DeGruy, Raydel
Morris, Vincent rolle and Clifford McKinney. Honorary pallbearers
were Alan McKinney and Patrick Savage.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American
Cancer Society and River Region Hospice.

| Cavallero |
Harold John Cavallero, Jr., beloved husband of Denise Bourg, father
of USAF Lt. Andrew John Cavallero, whose wife is Jennifer McMillian,
and Natalie Renee Cavallero, died Dec. 27 in a boating accident
on Lake Calcasieu. He is also survived by his father, Harold John
Cavallero, and his sisters, Linda Ann, wife of William Perronne,
III, Marilyn Althea, wife of Robert Hymel, and Cynthia Ann, wife
of Dr. John Ryals. Mr. Cavallero Jr. was predeceased by his mother,
Mary Lee LaBorde Cavallero. His long career in the inshore marine
industry ended with his most recent position, as Senior Inspector,
Lake Charles Chemical Group with PPG Industries.
A former resident of Willowridge Estates, Mr. Cavallero’s services
were held Friday, Dec. 31, 2004, at Holy Family Church in Luling.

| Champagne |
Floyd J. Champagne, a native of Luling and
resident of Des Allemands and Metairie, died on Dec. 4. He was 41
years old.
A commercial fisherman, Mr. Champagne is survived
by his companion Tina Hayden, parents Adler Sr. and Jeannette Deroche
Champagne, sons Justin and Ryan Hayden, brothers Mark Champagne,
Alder Champagne Jr., Ralph Champagne and Brian Champagne, sisters
Karen Kelon and Anne Braun, best buddy Jaycee Champagne and numerous
nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Dec.
6 at St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Des Allemands.

| Dufrene |
Clara “Sis” Brupbacher Dufrene, a native of Thibodaux and resident
of Des Allemands, died on Dec. 28. She was 87 years old.
She is survived by her son, Marlin Dufrene, brothers John, Jesse
and Glen Brupbacher, sisters Ruth Roy, Thelma Bernard, Ida Doland,
Betty Ruiz and Gerry Vannoy, eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Tracy Dufrene, parents
Otto Brupbacher Sr. and Lydia Pertuit Brupbacher and brothers Orrie
and Otto Brupbacher Jr.
Religious services were held on Dec. 31 at Des Allemands Mennonite
Church.

| Gray |
David Gray, a native of Leesburg, Fla. and resident of Paradis
and Bayou Gauche, died on Dec. 10 of heart failure. He was 39 years
old.
Mr. Gray was a member and past president of the Des Allemands
Booster Club and was Public Service Division Manager of White Dove
Civic Outreach Center. He is survived by his wife, Mina Huot Gray,
daughters Jamie, Heather, Dorothy, Brandi and Kelli Gray, stepdaughters
Kristy Adams Landry and Brandy Harrington, sisters Elise Moreland
and Betty Jane Kidd, brothers Dwayne Gray Jr. and Donald Gray, and
grandson Bryce McNulty. He is preceded in death by his parents,
Dwayne and Dorothy Gray, and grandson Hunter Hebert.
A memorial service will be held today at 1 p.m. at White Dove
Fellowship, 3600 Manhattan Boulevard, Harvey.

| Hannen |
William Hannen of Luling died after a lengthy
bout with gastric cancer Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. at Oschner Hospital. He
was 59 years old.
Mr. Hannen was assistant vice president of
Whitney National Bank and managed the bank’s Luling branch. He was
also very active in civic affairs. He was a past president of St.
Charles Rotary Club and managed the club’s annual Alligator Festival
for many years. He was also very active in coaching rercreation
sports in St. Charles Parish.
Mr. Hannen is survived by his wife, Pamela;
two sons, Lt. Timothy of Memphis and Scott of Luling; one daughter,
Mary Laura (Molly) also of Luling; his parents, Arthur and Laura
Hannen of Washington, Pa., and his in-laws, Maynard and Mary Warwick.
Visitation was held on Dec. 9 at Holy Family
Church in Luling from 9 to 11 a. m. followed by services.

| Haydel |
Anna Jane Roberts Haydel died on Dec. 9 at
her home in Destrehan. She was 87 years old.
A native of New Orleans and resident of Destrehan,
she was a retired school teacher with 35 years of service with the
St. Charles and Orleans Parish School Boards and a member of the
Retired Teachers Association. She was very active in St. Charles
Borromeo Catholic Church and other civic organizations.
She was wife of the late Octave Joseph “Uncle
Joe” Haydel, daughter of the late Lloyd and Rose Garland Roberts,
sister of Ruth Caldwell of New Orleans and the late Rose Roberts
Nolan. She is also survived by 22 nieces and nephews, 49 great nieces
and nephews, 22 great-great nieces and nephews and one great-great-great
niece.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Dec.
13 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Destrehan, followed
by interment at the Church Mausoleum.

| Heck |
Freeman James Heck Jr., DDS, died on Dec. 30 at East Jefferson
General Hospital in Metairie. A native of New Orleans, he was 78
years old.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Paul Heck, children Cheryl
H. Petty, Freeman James “Jim” Heck III, Beverly H. Taylor, brothers
Eldon and Jack Heck, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was the son of the late Freeman and Irene Roy Heck Sr., father
of the late Phyllis Heck and brother of the late Irene Heck.
Dr. Heck graduated from the Loyola School of Dentistry in 1955.
He moved to Luling in 1956 and maintained his dental practice there
for 40 years.
A memorial service was held on Jan. 15 at First Union Presbyterian
Church, 134 Lakewood Drive, Luling. In lieu of flowers, the family
requests memorials be made to the First Union Presbyterian Church.

| Landry |
Lamar Richard “Arnie” Landry Jr. died on Dec. 31 of undetermined
causes at St. Charles General Hospital in Luling. He was 37.
Mr. Landry was born in New Orleans and lived in Ama. He was a
member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 2049 in Luling and
the St. Charles Rotary Club. Survivors include an aunt and an uncle.
A Funeral Mass was held on Jan. 3 at St. Anthony Catholic Church
in Luling.

| Lirette |
Mirley Rodrigue Lirette, a native of Thibodaux and resident of
Paradis, died on Dec. 29. She was 77 years old.
She is survived by her husband, Earl J. Lirette, son Byron Lirette,
daughter Karen Lirette Boudreaux and her husband Terry P. Boudreaux
and grandchildren Brent Boudreaux, Nicholas Lirette, Christina Lirette
and Melissa Boudreaux Embry and her husband James Embry.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Jan. 3 at St. John the
Baptist Catholic Church in Paradis.

| Loupe |
Sheldon “Piper” Paul Loupe Jr., a native and resident of Raceland,
died on Dec. 31. He was 21 years old.
He is survived by his mother, Katherine Diane Falgout, father
Sheldon Paul Loupe Sr., sister Alisha D. Loupe, grandparents Calvin
“Dale” and Betty McBroom Falgout and Emelien Joseph and Aline Guidroz
Loupe, aunt Dawn Auvil and children Stephanie and Billy, and numerous
other aunts and uncles, cousins and other relatives. He is preceded
in death by his cousin, Gillian Dufrene and aunt Glenda Loupe.
He was a member of the Nicholls State University choir in Thibodaux
and enjoyed playing the piano.
A funeral was held on Jan. 3 at Samart Funeral Home in Raceland.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the
Kidney Foundation.

Patricia Mooring, a native of Prattville, Ala. and resident of
Houma, died on Dec. 24. She was 73 years old.
She is survived by her son, James A. Mooring and his wife Kathy,
sister Kathryn Handlang and grandchildren Katie and Hannah Mooring.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Frank Mooring, parents
James and Mary Stewart, Sr. and brother James E. Stewart Jr.
Memorial services were held on Dec. 29 at First Baptist Church
in Houma.

Elsie C. Treadaway, a native of Raceland and resident of Luling,
passed away on Dec. 24.
She is survived by her sons, Rodney F. and Corey G. Treadaway,
daughter Jan M. Treadaway, sister Norma “Tee” Roundtree, grandchildren
Stacey, Keri, Dereck, Duane, Nadia, Kori Lynn, Chad, Rod and Zack,
and 12 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband,
Manuel “Spot” Treadaway, parents Henry and Viola Bertrand Chiasson,
son Wayne “Butch” Treadaway, brothers Edwin “Pete” Chiasson, Frances
“Red” Chiasson and David H. Chiasson and sister Eula Lauve.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Dec. 28 at St. Anthony
Catholic Church in Luling followed by burial at Holy Rosary Cemetery
in Taft.

| Wajda |
Michael Anthony Wajda, a student at Eual J.
Landry Middle School, died on Dec. 15 at St. James Youth Center.
He was 16 years old
Mr. Wajda was born in New Orleans and lived
in Hahnville for most of his life. He is survived by his father,
Joseph Matis, mother Toni Zeller, stepfather Wilson J. Zeller Jr.,
stepmother Regina Rodrigue, brothers Richard R. Campbell Jr., Joseph
Anthony Matis Jr., and Brian Richard, Ryan Keith, Christopher R.
and Matthew Matis, sisters Kimberlynn Sue Matis, Victoria Francis
Mattis, Caty Jo Martone and Erica Lynn Campbell, and grandparents
Lena F. Matis, Linda Keller and Anthony C. Wajda.
A Mass was held at Our Lady of Prompt Succor
Catholic Church in Westwego on Dec. 22, followed by burial in the
church cemetery.

| Zeringue |
Huey Joseph Zeringue, a lifelong resident of
Ama, passed away on Dec. 24 at the home of his daughter and son-in-law
in Des Allemands. He was 76 years old.
He is survived by his children, Jan Marie
Zeringue, Danny Mark Zeringue and companion Brenda Robert, Lisa
Zeringue Fontenot and husband Kieth Fontenot, Lori Anne Zeringue
and Valarie Ann Zeringue and companion Leslie Frank Walgamotte,
grandchildren Mandi Michelle Bourgeois, Simon Paul Jeremiah James
and Adam Michael Fontenot, Monica Avenew Zeringue, Amos Joseph and
Bobbi Jo Cooke and Becki Jo Zeringue, Nicholas Scott Biades and
Matthew Allen Cummings; those like sons, Sandy Petit, Kenny Blades
and Ricky Brown, and siblings Beatrice Zeringue Brown and husband
Virgil, Elsie Zeringie Petit and husband Archille Petit, Marc Zeringue
and wife Diane, Larry Zeringue and sister-in-law Beverly P. Zeringue.
He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews and great-nieces
and nephews. He is preceded in death by his beloved friend and wife
of many years, Leola Justin Robert Zeringue; parents Aristide Joseph
Zeringue and Nellie May Dugas Zeringue, siblings Cyril J. Zeringue
and wife Velma and Thelma Zeringue and Aristide J. Zeringue Jr.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving
in the Korean War from 1950 to 1952, and previously served as a
Merchant Marine. He was a carpenter by trade until retirement, when
he began farming.
A Funeral Mass will be held today at 10 a.m.
at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Destrehan.
