Brandon Stein was convicted
Wednesday of murder in the death of 17-year-old James Rogers last

officials want golf vandals investigated
Three men were arrested
Feb. 25 and charged with felonies for damage done around the Willowdale
golf courses. Tyson Brasher, 17, Bayou Gauche; Daniel Matson, 18,
Luling; and Christopher Thompson, 22, Des Allemands were arrested
after being stopped at 2:04 a.m. for running a stop sign on Lakewood
Drive. |

Divided council approves cost-sharing pump project
After a heated debate
about whether the measure was playing politics, the St. Charles
Parish Council approved a measure Monday night that will allow Shell
Chemical and Motiva Enterprises to help pay for an $8.6 million
pump station in Norco.

Residents of Gassen Lane
in Luling will have to start sending out change of address forms.
The Parish Council voted 7-2 Monday night to approve changing the
name of the street from Gassen Lane to Antoine Lane.

to vote on insurance provider
School board members will
vote on a measure tonight which would renew the contract with United
Health Care to provide health insurance for the district’s employees.
United replaced The Oath last April when the latter company filed

Pecco, a Belgian Malinois, was
recently acquired by the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Department.
The dog, fittingly born on 9-11-01, will aid the department with new
threats associated with the war on terrorism. The new addition to

The St. Charles Historical
Foundation will request special permission from the planning and zoning
commission Thursday night for the German Coast Farmers Market to operate
at Ormond Plantation. The measure comes after the St. Charles Parish
Zoning Ordinance of 1981 was amended at the January meeting by adding
the definition of green market; and to allow green markets in OL,
and C-2 or higher zoning districts as a special permit use.

establishes Bumgarner Heritage Award
The River Road Historical
Society is honoring one of its own with an award offered to area middle
school students. Bille
Bumgarner, a former RRHS board member and retired teacher, passed
away last November. She spent nearly 30 years teaching in St. Charles
Parish schools, including Mimosa Elementary, J.B. Martin Jr. High,
A.A. Songy Elementary and Eual J. Landry Middle School, and was very
active in the Gifted and Talented programs. |
