Four car accident delays traffic for hours, five sent to hospital By Allen Lottinger, Jr. On Tuesday morning, a four vehicle accident stopped traffic in both directions on US 90 in Paradis for several hours. The incident occurred at around 8 a.m. when an 18-wheeler heading east on US 90 collided with a truck heading south on La. 306 (Bayou Gauche Road). According to state police, after hitting the smaller truck the 18-wheeler turned on its side and struck two additional eastbound vehicles. The 18-wheeler was hauling sugar cane at the time of the accident. Police officials said a possible cause for the accident was that one of the vehicles initially involved in the accident may have run a red light at the intersection of Bayou Gauche Road and US 90. As a result of the accident, five people were transported to the hospital. At press time their names and conditions were not known.
