December 20, 2003 Destrehan man found sleeping in ex-judge's home By Blake M. Petit Ruben Codina, 42, of Destrehan, was arrested Saturday when he was found sleeping in the home of former District Judge Joel Chaisson Sr. He was charged with unauthorized entry into an inhabited dwelling and two counts of resisting arrest by violence. Chaisson’s daughter, Eve, found Codin snoring in the living room Saturday morning. She called police shortly before 9 a.m. and two deputies arrived and woke him up. Deputies say he tried to fight with them before he was arrested. Current Judge Robert Chaisson, Joel Chaisson’s son, released Codina Monday on a personal surety and recused himself from the case. Robert Chaisson, acting as duty judge for the parish this month, said he did not think it was fair to keep Codina in jail without bond until another judge could hear the case. The Chaisson family says they do not know Codina or why he entered their home. Police found no signs of a forced entry and believe he entered through an unlocked door. .
