opens in Killona
The
Nelson Coleman St. Charles Parish Correctional Center was dedicated
with a mid-morning ceremony on the facility grounds. Remarks were
made by several parish officials including Parish President Albert
Laque, Councilman Barry Minnich, Judge Emile St. Pierre, D.A. Harry
Morel, Jr. and Sheriff Greg Champagne. |

board meets on reapportionment
Members of the school board
decided Wednesday night to hold a public hearing on the eight district
plan that was approved at the last meeting. In November, the school
board voted to create an additional district on the eastbank, equalizing
the number of districts on each side of the river at four.

meeting of the school board was cancelled due to lack of quorum. The
meeting was called by board president Steve Crovetto to decide whether

sentenced to 10 years for child molestation
Charles Bordelon, the Luling
man who last month pleaded guilty to two charges of indecent behavior
with a juvenile and possession of child pornography, was sentenced
to ten year in prison on Wednesday. |
