Tigers can enter driver’s seat of district race with win

Hahnville running back Ernest Thompson carries several Bonnabel defenders with him into the end zone during the Tigers 24-15 win last Friday. Hahnville head coach Lou Valdin said his Tigers have a chance to put themselves in the driver’s seat for the District 8-5A championship if they can pull out a win over East St. John on Friday.

Hahnville running back Travis Faucheaux is trailed by fellow running back Ernest Thompson as he carries the ball downfield. The Hahnville offense put together its best game of the season last Friday, rolling up 469 yards on their way to a 58-37 victory over McDonogh 35 - and head coach Lou Valdin couldn't be happier.

Hahnville receiver Jaylon Bryant makes a diving tackle on special teams while fellow Tiger Anthony Mott comes in to help finish off the ball carrier. The Hahnville Tigers looked very strong at halftime last Friday against a tough St. Augustine team. The defense had just made a crucial stop on a fourth and goal with only seconds remaining in the second quarter and the team took a 21-14 lead into the locker room. However, three second half turnovers changed their fortune as the Purple Knights were the ones who ended up going home with a 40-21 victory.

Hahnville running back Travis Faucheaux gets wrapped up but keeps his legs churning on a carry against Lutcher last Friday night. It was anyone's game last Friday night in Lutcher until the last two minutes of regulation as the Bulldogs pulled out to a two touchdown lead and defeated the Hahnville Tigers, 34-21.

Hahnville defensive end Jamon Lathers chases down Istrouma quarterback Marquise Kaigler. The Tigers beat Istrouma 56-0, but will face a much more explosive offense when they take on Lutcher Friday night. After touchdowns were in short supply in week one, they were seemingly falling from the sky this past Friday night as the Hahnville Tigers shut out the Istrouma Indians 56-0.
