Winning district championship could be only way Tigers make playoffs

Hahnville senior Sergio Medina was moved to running back two weeks ago and has rejuvenated the Tigers running game. The Hahnville Tigers (2-4, 2-0) have begun to turn their season around, winning the past two games against district opponents after starting the season off 0-4 in non-district play.

Hahnville cornerback Terry Boyd comes down with the first interception of the night. The Hahnville Tigers pulled off their second win in a row, and first at home, in a 26-16 victory over district foe East St. John Wildcats to become one of two undefeated teams–the other being Destrehan–in the district.

Hahnville’s defense played one of their best games of the season as the Tigers picked up their first win of the year against Higgins. The Hahnville Tigers continue district play this Friday against East St. John as they come off their first victory of the season.

Tailback Sergio Medina runs the ball behind the lead block of fullback Cody Morles. Both had over 100 yards rushing on the night. The Hahnville Tigers broke their four game losing streak in a 20-19 win over the Bonnabel Bruins in their first district game of the year to improve to 1-4.

Hahnville’s defense struggled once again last week against McDonogh 35, but the unit can redeem itself by leading the Tigers to a win in their district opener on Friday. Last week Hahnville head coach Lou Valdin said none of his teams had ever lost three games in a row–now his team has lost four in a row.
