A resident of Norco, LA, Odile Laurent Duhe, 87, passed away peacefully on Friday, Nov. 20, 2009 at Azalea Estates Retirement Center in Gonzales, LA.

She had an easy smile, an enormous humble heart, and a passion for her family. She was prepared, on any given day, to offer something from her kitchen that represented love for the eight children, 20 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren that she cherished. She had a gift for making all feel like they were known individually, and each one was her personal favorite.

Odile is survived by her sons, daughters, and their spouses: John Ayme and Barbara, Jim Duhe and Mary, Jack Duhe and Jody, June Fontanille and Carl, Joanne Langlinais Hurley and Charles, Janet Centanni and Mike. She is survived by brother Ursin J. Laurent Jr. and wife Joann; sisters Lillian Banquer and Cecile Trepagnler. She was preceded in death by parents, Ursin J. and Georgette Hotard Laurent; husbands:Harold J. “Teetsie” Ayme and Joseph J. “Junior”Duhe Jr.; and sons Jerold Duhe and Chris Duhe.

The family would like to express sincere thanks to the staff and residents of Azalea Estates, caretakers Bea Chretien and Alma Sholmire for their tender care, and the amazing staff at Hospice of Baton Rouge, especially Marilyn and Linda.

At her request, services were held at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Norco on Nov. 23. Mass of Christian Burial was officiated by Fr. Msgr. Terry Becnel. Entombment followed at St. Charles Borromeo Church Mausoleum in Destrehan.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hospice of Baton Rouge at 9063 Siegen Lane, Suite A, Baton Rouge, LA 70810. Friends and family are invited to send their condolences at hcalexanderfuneralhome.com.

Arrangements were under the direction of H. C. Alexander Funeral Home, Norco, LA.
