Ethel DeJean Hayes, 91, passed away on Oct. 6, 2011 in Destrehan. She was the beloved wife of the late Wilbur "Chuck" Hayes, mother of R.J. Prevost (wife Carol), H.J. Prevost III (wife Beth) and Sandra Ellis (husband Jimmy), stepmother of Neddy Sumners, daughter of the late George DeJean Sr. and Virginia Duhe DeJean, sister of the late Harry, Roy, Melvin, George Jr., Dudley Sr., Percy Sr. and Elwood DeJean Sr., Shirley Knott and Gloria Haydel; grandmother of eight and great-grandmother of seven. She was preceded in death by one grandchild. She was a native of Lutcher and resident of Des Allemands, and a Pink Lady for St. Charles Hospital.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Des Allemands on Oct. 15 with interment at St. Gertrude Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Masses or donations to any charity in Ethel’s name are preferred. Falgout Funeral Homes was in charge of arrangements.

Richmond, Waters introduce bill to reform flood insurance - 555 views
Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Cedric Richmond (LA-02), along with Congresswoman Maxine Waters (CA-43), introduced The Flood Insurance Implementation Reform Act of 2013. This bipartisan legislation aims to improve the National Flood Insurance Program by ensuring that the implementation of new rates do not burden homeowners or slow the recovery of the nation's housing market.
