Theresa Mejia
Theresa Mejia, 71, passed away on Aug. 10, 2011. She was a home maker and a native of New Orleans who lived in St. Charles Parish for the past five years and worked as a nurse’s aide.
She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Marco Antonio Mejia, six sons: Peter, Augustus, Kirk and Keith Garcia and Marco and Thomas Mejia; one daughter, Cynthia Chahoc, 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Ficaro Sr. and Eunice Nata Ficaro LeBourgeois, first husband, Peter Frank Garcia Sr., daughter, Catherine Garcia, and three siblings.
The family wishes to express special thanks to Joy with Paynes In-Home Care Services in LaPlace and Dana with Nurses Registry Home Health.
Services were held on Aug. 26 at H.C. Alexander Funeral Home in Norco with burial following in St. Vincent DePaul Mausoleum in New Orleans. H.C. Alexander Funeral Homes was in charge of arrangements.

Superintendent steps down to get down - 700 views
Dr. Rodney Lafon boiled down his decision to announce his retirement last month to a simple factor. With 40 years accumulated in the school system he had come to a point in his career where he would make nearly the same yearly salary as a retiree as if he chose to continue working.
