The German Coast Farmers’ Market recently held its annual LSU AgCenter Preserve Contest.

First and second place went to Sarah Dufresne of Bayou Gauche, for her Habanera Gold Pepper Jelly and her Cooking Pears, respectively.  Third place went to Don Montgomery of Destrehan for his Strawberry Fig preserves.  Deniese Zeringue, LSU AgCenter extension agent, judged the 13 entries.  Other participants included Ann Maier of New Orleans, Josefina Campbell of Luling and Candace Owcarz of Luling.  Prizes were donated by the Cracked Pot Nursery in St. Rose and Courtney’s Hallmark in Destrehan.
