Grand Ridge dressing up a beautiful parish

When you live in St. Charles Parish, you live close to nature. And no place is that more evident than in the Willowdale area, site of the former Willowdale Country Club and the upcoming Grand Ridge Golf Club.

As was the fate of many other golf clubs in recent years, the Willowdale  club could not make it due to a lessening interest in a sport that demands a lot of time in these days of busy people. But the sport is still there and it is about to re-blossom in the Willowdale area under a new name and new ownership.

St. Charles has always had its share of golfing facilities. Ormond Country Club in Destrehan also had a rebirth after it went under a few months back and Fashion Golf and Country Club in Hahnville has continued popping the balls non-stop on its nine holes.

We’ll soon be back to three playing fields for golfers. And, better yet, Grand Ridge will go further than Willowdale in providing gardens, walking paths and fishing ponds for those who don’t want to swing a club.

St. Charles is a beautiful parish and it is being made more so at the present time by members and workers at Grand Ridge turning their natural wonderland into an even more beautiful spot. Who would have ever thought a parish with 75 percent wetlands could become such a usable and enjoyable place in which to live.
