Cecile Deroche
Cecile Deroche, 83, passed away at her home in Gramercy.
She was a native of Garyville and lived in Gramercy for 52 years. She is survived by her sons, Russel J. Deroche Jr. and Nathan J. Deroche, daughter, Linda Deroche St. Pierre (husband Gene), sister, Nellwyn King Torres, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Russel J. Deroche Sr., parents, Lee King and Lillian Garcia, brother, Carl J. King, and sister, Nona Lee Tamplain.
Services were held on June 11 at Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Gramercy with Fr. Vincent Dufresne officiating. Interment followed at St. Joseph Mausoleum in Paulina. H.C. Alexander funeral home was in charge of arrangements.

Superintendent steps down to get down - 642 views
Dr. Rodney Lafon boiled down his decision to announce his retirement last month to a simple factor. With 40 years accumulated in the school system he had come to a point in his career where he would make nearly the same yearly salary as a retiree as if he chose to continue working.
