Football combine coming to Destrehan
Former East Carolina All-American lineman and NFL veteran Brian Rimpf will host the Big Show Combine, a football combine for prep football players, on April 23 at Destrehan High School.
Players from either Destrehan or Hahnville can attend the combine for free.
The Big Show Combine will allow aspiring college football players who are currently in grades 8-11 to test their skills against other players throughout the country.
The Big Show Combine gives student-athletes the chance to undergo unbiased testing in the same events administered at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis. These events--including the 40-yard dash, bench press, vertical jump, broad jump, three-cone drill, and pro agility drill--are the same tests college and NFL scouts use to evaluate talent.
Results will be made available to every college football program in the country, and each studentathlete will have access to the Big Show Combine's comprehensive Web-based system. There, they can create a player profile with stats and game footage and make it available to colleges.
In addition, the top combine performers will have their profile added to Scout.com.
Big Show Combine participants will also receive expert position-related instruction from a staff of former college players, professional players, and top high school coaches.
“I was fortunate enough to receive a full scholarship to play Division I football, but I wasn't a big recruit on a great high school team,” Rimpf said. “The Big Show Combine is designed to bring exposure to those high school football players who have a true desire to play football in college.
Athletes who are already being recruited and those that, otherwise, may have gone under the radar will get the additional exposure they need.”
Registration costs $75.
