He was the husband of Joyce Hymel Dufresne, father of Camille Dufresne, C. Louise Bourgeois (husband Keith), Mark Dufresne (wife Dawn), Jeanne Lauve (husband Perry) and Simone Finn (husband John); grandfather of Robert Barker Jr., Jacques (wife Kelly) and Antoinne Bourgeois, Dustin Zeringue, Matthew Lauve, and Sean and Eryn Finn; great-grandfather of Robert Barker III, and son of Ulysse O. and Ida Dufresne. He was preceded in death by brothers Claude and Amilcar Dufresne, and sisters Ann Dennis, Cecile Faucheaux, Agnes Barre, Ethel Dufresne, Georgette Spoontz and Philomen Falgoust.

He was retired from Monsanto Chemical and served in the U.S. Merchant Marines.

Services were held on March 2 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hahnville with burial following at St. Philip Catholic Church Cemetery in Vacherie. H.C. Alexander Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
