Council to consider extra tax for delinquent property owners on Sept. 18
On Sept. 5, the parish council introduced an ordinance that if approved will create an additional tax on the tax bills for property owners that are delinquent in paying outstanding invoices for the removal of weeds and grass maintenance not in compliance with the parish code.
The ordinance will also add an additional tax to the tax bills for property owners who are delinquent in paying outstanding charges to the parish for removal of unsafe structures, trash and debris.
At the meeting, the council also approved the millage rates for the 2006 tax year. That means the property tax for residential property owners will decrease by 0.47 mills.
