She is survived by four sons: Steven Schaubhut (wife Beverly), Edward “Jimmy” Schaubhut (wife Doris), Barry Schaubhut and Brian Schaubhut (wife Clair); two daughters, Sue Champagne (husband Wayne) and Margo Tastet (husband Russell), one sister, Gladys Trauth, 17 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eldridge “Mickey” Schaubhut, parents, James Champagne and Alice Lirette Champagne, three brothers: Clarence, Wilbert and Milton Champagne; and one sister, Mildred Laque.
Visitation and a Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Des Allemands on Jan. 25 with entombment in the church mausoleum. Falgout Funeral Home of Raceland was in charge of arrangements.

Little more than a week after officials from 14 parishes took a trip to Washington, D.C. to lobby against potential flood insurance rate hikes, some of those same officials convened with Sen. David Vitter at the home of a Bayou Gauche couple.
