He was the beloved husband of Esther Zeringue Detillier, father of John Detillier Jr. (late wife Lisa), Paul Detillier, Henry Detillier, Alfred Detillier, Liz Prejean (husband Terry), Teresa Majoria (husband Mark) and Lenore Matherne (husband Randy); father-in-law of the late Bill Henderson, son of the late Alton Alfred Detillier and Eula Boyer Detillier, brother of Anthony and Milton Detillier, grandfather of 15 and great-grandfather of three. He was a native of Paradis and resident of Ama.

A Mass of Christian burial was held at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Luling on Jan. 8 with interment following in St. Charles Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Masses preferred. Falgout Funeral Homes was in charge of arrangements.
