When DNA Chiropractic in Luling came up with this witty slogan advertising their DNA testing business, they never imagined it would go viral on the Internet. |
Their idea was “Who Dat Baby Daddy?”
But they never imagined their slogan would go viral, with pictures of the signs popping up across the Internet and being sent in chain e-mails around the country.
After printing the slogan on yard signs and on the front door of DNA Chiropractic, the couple was surprised when they started receiving phone calls from people around the country.
“A lot of people called just to find out if it was a real business,” Angelle said. “It’s catchy, and so far the signs have been generating a lot of interest. We have only been offering DNA testing for a month, so we are just starting to get real inquiries.”
Originally, the DNA in DNA Chiropractic stood for Derek and Angelle, but after several requests for paternity testing the two decided to provide DNA testing.
“After joking around with a friend, we decided to use a common local question for advertising: ‘Who Dat is?’” Derek said. “And Who Dat Baby Daddy LLC was born.”
The couple collects DNA samples at their office on Paul Maillard Road in Luling.
Angelle added that most people will get tested to find out whether or not they are the father of a child.
“You don’t want to have to pay child support for 18 years if the child is not yours,” she said.
But the chiropractic clinic can also perform genetic testing to find out where a person’s ancestors are from. The test can also reveal heart disease, stroke, and cancers.
Derek is from Luling and attended Boutte Christian Academy and is also a Hahnville High School grad. His wife, Angelle, is from Raceland and is a graduate of Central Lafourche High School.
While the couple is now performing DNA testing, their first love is chiropractic.
“We both enjoy helping people live a healthy lifestyle and giving spinal health lectures to help prevent injuries,” Derek said. “We introduced a spinal health program in St. Charles Parish Schools called ‘Straighten Up America!’ It is designed to promote good posture and to get people moving.”
DNA Chiropractic is located at 613 Paul Maillard Road. For more information on any of their programs, call (985)722-7486.
