Ruiz
Irma Horan Ruiz, 96, of Carriere, Miss. passed away on Nov. 26, 2010.
She was a native of Destrehan, a homemaker and a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. She was a member of the St. James Major Senior Citizens Club, St. Raphael Senior Citizens Club, People’s Program, Mary’s Helpers and the Senior Center of Picayune. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Horan and Rose Faulstich Horan, and her husband, Andrew John Ruiz Sr. She is survived by her sons: Kenneth Jude Ruiz, Andrew J. (A.J.) Ruiz Jr. and Roger Stephen Ruiz; one daughter, Diane Migliore, 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
A funeral Mass was held on Dec. 2 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Burial took place in Ponemah Cemetery in Bogalusa under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home. Fr. Michael Snyder officiated.

Legislators vow to help parish fight huge insurance increases - 536 views
Parish President V.J. St. Pierre, along with eight other parish presidents and representatives from five other parishes, visited Washington, D.C. to talk to officials about the potential spike in local flood insurance premiums should large portions of the Biggert-Waters Act be allowed to take effect in October.
