A 30-year-old Slidell man was killed after his vehicle collided with a billboard on I-310 south near LA 3127, according to Louisiana State Police.

Christopher D. Blanchard was traveling south in the left lane of I-310 shortly before 12:50 p.m. on Nov. 29 when his 2002 Buick LeSabre traveled through the right lane and into a grassy area before hitting a billboard support post, according to the preliminary investigation.

Blanchard was ejected from the Buick and pronounced dead on the scene.

Authorities say that speed was not a factor in the crash and that Blanchard was wearing a seat belt.
Driver impairment is unknown at this time and autopsy and toxicology results are pending.
