Lockett likely to appeal for 6th year of eligibility for Ole Miss

Former Hahnville Tiger Kentrell Lockett will likely appeal to the NCAA for a sixth season of eligibility.

Reports out of Oxford, Miss. indicate that former Hahnville High School and current Ole Miss standout defensive end Kentrell Lockett is thinking seriously about appealing to the NCAA for a sixth season of eligibility.

Lockett, who fought off a heart rhythm problem early in the season, went down to a season-ending knee injury in the fourth game of the 2010 season.

The 6-4, 275-pound defensive end was redshirted in 2006, but he could file a medical hardship case with the NCAA and possibly gain another year of eligibility.

In three games played this season for the Rebels Lockett recorded six tackles, 1one tackle for a loss and a quarterback sack before sustaining a tear to his anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.

In 2009, Lockett started all 13 games at right end for the Rebels and recorded a team-high 13 quarterback pressures. He also ranked second on the team in both tackles for loss (10) and sacks (5).
