St. Charles Parish Girl Scouts to hold recruitment event Aug. 26
NEW ORLEANS- Interested in learning what Girl Scouting is all about? Wonder no more. A Girl Scout recruitment event is being held to give St. Charles Parish families the opportunity to find out about Girl Scouting, recruit adult volunteers, and/or register girls for placement in an available troop.
Girls in kindergarten through grade 12, their parents, and other adults interested in volunteering are invited to attend a Girl Scout recruitment event on Sat., Aug. 26, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at St. Charles United Methodist Church in its fellowship hall, 1905 Ormond Blvd., Destrehan.
Information about the Girl Scout program will be available at the recruitment night along with information about Girl Scout volunteer opportunities.
For more than 94 years, Girl Scouting has built girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. Girls learn leadership skills as they discover new interests and explore the world around them. Girl Scouting is a positive and affordable avenue that families can take in providing their daughters with a nurturing environment and age-appropriate activities. Membership is only $10 a year, and some favorite activities include camping, travel, health and fitness, the arts, science and technology, cookie-selling, and much more.
The Girl Scout program age levels are: Daisy Girl Scouts -Kindergarten; Brownie Girl Scouts-grades 1-3; Junior Girl Scouts-grades 4-6; Cadette Girl Scouts-grades 6-9; and Senior Girl Scouts-grades 9-12. There are many ways to volunteer for the Girl Scouts, in addition to serving as a troop leader or assistant leader.
