Charles J. Clulee, 73, of Luling, died peacefully at River Region Hospice Home in River Ridge early Friday morning, Sept. 24, 2010.

 

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mable Savoy Clulee, four children: Tammy and husband Dan Frickey, Dawn and husband David Patterson, Troy Clulee, and Dean Clulee and wife Lisa Gautreaux; granddaughters: Candice Frickey Eskridge, Courtnie Frickey Comardelle, Chasadie Gatewood Toups, Tori Clulee, Ashley Clulee Kraemer, Megan Clulee, Cheyenne Clulee, Jada Songy and Emily Clulee; grandson, Joshua Clulee, great-granddaughter, Bailey Brooklyn Toups, great-grandsons: Caden and Cohen Comardelle and Ashton Kraemer; sisters, Marlene Savoie and Jo Ann Schexnayder of Tennessee, and brother, Neal Clulee.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Sr. and Marie Dufrene Clulee, and his brothers, Firmin and Lionel Clulee.


He learned the love of God, the value of hard work and discipline, and love of the outdoors from his parents. He attended Our Lady of Prompt Succor in Westwego and graduated from Holy Name of Mary High School in Algiers. He also served in the U.S. Army.


He was an employee of Avondale Shipyards for 18 years, was a self employed residential home builder and carpenter, and was retired from Frickey Brothers Construction. He took pleasure in mentoring others in home building and carpentry. Since his retirement, he spent as much time as possible fishing at his camp on Grand Isle. He was a patient teacher, always willing to share his knowledge of his favorite sport with friends and family. He was a faithful member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Luling and Our Lady of the Isle Catholic Church in Grand Isle.


Memorial services were held on Sept. 28 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Luling, with interment following at St. Charles Mausoleum. Falgout Funeral Homes was in charge of arrangements.
