Calling all cooks!
Teams Invited to register for the 5th Annual United Way of St. Charles Battle for the Paddle Challenge to be held Oct. 5.
The cook-off is scheduled for Thurs., Oct. 5, from 4 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. at the West Bank Bridge Park in Luling.
The Battle for the Paddle is an annual gumbo and jambalaya cook-off between teams of one to four individuals who cook up their own special recipes on-site and serve the results to attendees of all ages who pay $5 for this all-you-can-eat extravaganza (children under 12 are free).
Registration deadline is Sept. 15. The participation fee is $50 per team entry. Teams are limited to four persons maximum. Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams in both the Gumbo and Jambalaya competition, including the coveted grand prize - a beautifully engraved wooden paddle. All teams participating will receive participation prizes. Space is limited.
