Sheriff announces scholarship recipient
Sheriff Greg Champagne announced that Courtney Speice, a Hahnville High School 2010 graduate, was awarded an academic scholarship from the Louisiana Sheriff’s Scholarship Program. Speice will be attending the University of Louisiana at Lafayette this fall and majoring in chemical engineering. She is the daughter of John and Ellen Speice of Des Allemands.
Ama girl attends national conference
Alexis Johnson, then a student at Boutte Christian Academy, was selected to attend the Junior National Youth Leadership Conference in Washington, DC in July, which enables participants the opportunity to interact with many prominent students from around the world. The event also helps scholars develop and sharpen their leadership skills. Alexis is now a 6th Grader at Immaculate Conception School in Marrero. She is the daughter of Welton and Vanessa A. Johnson of Ama.
