HHS trio named to All-Metro team
Hahnville Tigers Brian Ensminger, Ben Taylor and Alvin Kelly all landed on the Times-Picayune's All-Metro Preseason Football Team for large schools.
Ensminger was picked as the top quarterback based on a 2009 season in which he threw for more than 2,000 yards and had a 65 percent completion percentage. He also tossed 25 touchdowns and had only five interceptions.
Taylor, who was recognized as one of the top linebackers in the state, led his squad in tackles last season, finishing with 76. The 5'11, 195-pound senior also recorded five sacks, recovered two fumbles, caused a fumble and had an interception.
Big left tackle Alvin Kelly (6'3, 365) also had a banner year in 2009, protecting Ensminger while also paving the way for running back Alfred Blue, who ran for 1,607 yards last season.
Kelly is one of two returning starters to the Tiger offensive line and his ability to succeed at run blocking and pass protection will determine just how well the Hahnville offense performs in 2010.
