Police make arrest in armed robbery of St. Rose Driving Range
Charles Tobias
A 41-year-old St. Rose man has been arrested for allegedly robbing the St. Rose Driving Range and fleeing with an unknown amount of money, according to the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office.

According to authorities, Charles Tobias, of 504 East Club Drive Apt. G, was a former employee of the driving range and has an extensive and violent arrest record. He hadn’t worked at the driving range for several months.

Tobias allegedly entered the business with a gun and demanded an employee open a safe.

“He walked right in and wasn’t disguised or anything,” Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Dwayne LaGrange said. “The employee recognized him.”

After the safe was opened, Tobias forced the employee to load the money into a plastic bag he was holding, according to authorities. The employee was then locked in the room where the safe was located and Tobias fled the scene.

“Some other employees at the driving range were able to get the employee out of the locked room after hearing her,” LaGrange said.

Tobias was arrested later that day and charged with robbery and the possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
