73-year-old dies in Airline wreck
A New Orleans man was killed last week in a two vehicle accident in Destrehan after authorities say he lost control of his truck and crossed into the path of a car on Airline Drive.
According to State Police, the accident happened shortly before 4 p.m. and resulted in the closure of Airline Drive near Ormond Boulevard.
Authorities say Warren Johnson, 73, was driving north on Airline Drive in a 2008 Ford Ranger when he crossed the median into the south bound lane and collided head-on with a 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo driven by Christopher Wahab, 17, of Destrehan.
Wahab and his passenger were transported to River Parishes Hospital with moderate injuries.
Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene.
Speed and alcohol are not suspected as factors in the crash, but toxicology results of both drivers are pending.
