Destrehan’s Sam Carriere was not only named the gold glove winner in District 6-5A for his defensive prowess, but he finished as the MVP of the league.

The senior, who has won the gold glove award for three straight years, was one of the main cogs in Destrehan’s perfect 15-0  district record.


Carriere, who has signed to play with Nicholls, hit .415 on the season with an on base percentage of .526. Carriere also had nine doubles, one triple and blasted five home runs. He finished the season with 30 RBIs.
