Text messages to minor lead to sex arrest
A Des Allemands man was arrested last week and booked with having sex with a 15-year-old girl, according to the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Chad Dufrene, 37, of 118 S. Mark Drive, was booked with two counts of carnal knowledge of a juvenile and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.
Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Dwayne LaGrange said that the girl’s mother became suspicious when she noticed that Dufrene was sending text messages to her daughter. When the mother asked to see the messages, the girl erased them.
“The mother came to us and we started an investigation,” LaGrange said. “When we determined that Dufrene did in fact have sexual intercourse with the victim and interviewed her, she admitted it had occurred.”
LaGrange said the Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating whether or not Dufrene had sexual relations with other minors.
“We want to warn parents and let teens know that this is a very serious offense,” he said. “We will go after the offenders.”
