Need a retreat from the summer heat?
Ladies interested in a treat before summer ends should attend the Destrehan Plantation Summer Tea and Antebellum Grand Ball on Sunday, August 6, beginning at 2 p.m. in the Mule Barn at Destrehan Plantation.
The menu for the tea will consist of tea sandwiches, scones, assorted biscuits, and a chocolate dessert fantasy featuring a chocolate fountain. Various hot and cold teas will be served. Entertainment for the event will be a Antebellum Grand Ball presented by vintage dancers from throughout the area. Door prizes, raffles and a tea cup auction. Advance tickets of $25 per person are available by phone at the Destrehan Plantation office at 764-9315 or in person at the Plantation Store. Seating is limited. Proceeds to benefit the Destrehan Plantation Heritage Education Program.
