Our View: Now, nobody will admit dey gonna beat dem Saints
Who dat say they gonna beat dem Saints? Who dat? Who dat?
Well, the Indianapolis Colts tried but didn’t. Even with an almost perfect Peyton Manning.
After a lackluster first quarter and losing by 10 points, the Saints came back and overcame the team with the best record in the NFL. Drew Brees and his coach Sean Peyton, of course, were the main cogs in the wheel that won the Lombardi Trophy. But the entire team was part of the victory. Without them, they could not have claimed the championship.
Never has southeast Louisiana been in such an ecstatic mode. It’s something we have sought for many years and now our dreams have come true.
Even before this happened, a national poll determined that people in Louisiana were the happiest of any state in the nation. Imagine how far ahead we would be now.
We must, of course, take this in stride and move on toward Dallas next year. And if we keep up our pace, we could end up back in the Superdome for the Super Bowl in 2013.
But for the moment, let’s savor 2010 as the year our championship status started. The Mardi Gras season will extend our pandemonium as never before.
Our congratulations go to all the Saints for not letting that first quarter hold them back. It set the stage for a great comeback performance.
