Hi-tech hospital Web site provides video, info on critical health procedures
The site also provides access to a comprehensive consumer health library with more than two million pages of the latest health information.
The Web site address is www.riverparisheshospital.com.
The site features news and information about the latest services provided by River Parishes Hospital.
When the site launched, the lead stories highlighted the hospital’s mammography services and the grand opening of the new Physical Therapy Building. The new site uses digital media to describe the hospital’s services. For example, web users can watch a short video on the importance of mammography in the detection of breast cancer at its earliest, most curable stages.
"Our new Web site is another example of the expert health services we continue to develop for our community," says Charlotte Dupré, CEO of River Parishes Hospital. "We think it will become a valuable 24-hour source of information about our hospital as well as helping to educate people on their risks and how to access treatment."
The new online consumer health library is fully searchable and has major sections devoted to Healthy Men, Healthy Women, Healthy Pregnancies, and Kids’ Health, as well as centers of information dedicated to heart health, strokes, cancer and pain management.
New interactive tools allow consumers to apply current health information to their own specific lifestyles.
Consumers can use the new tools to determine ideal body weight, target heart rate, how many calories are burned in a typical exercise or even to plot ovulation cycles.
Consumers can also take five online assessments to help them determine risks for developing diabetes, osteoporosis, breast cancer, coronary heart disease or depression.
Additional features on the new Web site include an online directory to find a physician, a brief description of services available at the hospital, and a listing of job opportunities at the hospital.
Visitors can also stay updated on the latest River Parishes Hospital news and learn more about the Senior Friends program and volunteer opportunities through the site.
