Joseph C. Liberty, 73, a native of Nebraska and resident of Luling, died Saturday, June 6, 2009.

Funeral services were held Thursday, June 11, 2009 at Dorr and Clark Funeral Home, in Falls City, with interment in the Rulo Cemetery, Rulo, Neb.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Liberty of Luling; three sons, Scott and wife, Mary, of Orlando, Fla., Michael and wife, Terri, of Kansas City, Mo., and Jeff and wife, Kathryn A., of Baton Rouge; one daughter, Kathy Liberty of Sacramento, Calif.; two brother, Roger Liberty, of Columbia, South America, and Carl and wife, Gerri Liberty, of Rulo; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and pet cat, Calico.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Ethil Simmonds Liberty; three, brothers, Vern, Larry and Clarence Liberty; and grandson, David Liberty. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He worked for Weeks Marine and was a member of the West St. Charles Baptist Church in Boutte. Dorr and Clark Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
