Report: Wal-Mart employee steals 'her money' back
Claims discount was given to husband because
A Wal-Mart cashier was arrested for giving her husband a discount of $91, and allegedly told managers that she did so because the company owed her money for breaking a watch she had brought in to have repaired.
According to the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office, Derek Goins, of 525 Marino St. in Norco, came through the check-out line of his wife, 30-year-old Elaina, on June 14 with $184 worth of merchandise. By the time he left, he had only paid $93.
A manager at the store witnessed the transaction and contacted a Wal-Mart loss prevention worker, who began gathering evidence against Goins.
On June 17, after the necessary evidence and paperwork were completed, the two managers called in Goins and asked her about the theft. According to the incident report, Goins said that she only gave her husband the discount because Wal-Mart owed her money after breaking her watch. Goins said she brought in the watch, which cost $150, to have a battery replaced. While trying to repair it, Goins said a fellow Wal-Mart employee broke the watch completely.
Goins was released after posting a $100 bond that day. According to authorities, a warrant has been issued for her husband.
