Dayton Bordelon, a 17 year- old golfer from Hahnville High School, is keeping his dream of playing at the college level, possibly professionally, alive by playing competively during the summer.

He just participated and placed 5th in the Exxon BFI Tournament in Greenfield, Miss. The tournament hosted over 127 golfers from the southeastern states. Last year, he placed 2nd in his age bracket at the National AA Junior Olympics.

Since the age of three, Dayton has played the game first introduced to him by his father. His love for the game has intensified over the years. As a member of the Hahnville golf team, who placed second in the state just behind Port Sulfur, Dayton shot a 73 in the first and second round of the State Golf Tournament.

Dayton is a strong and committed player. This summer Dayton will be working on his game daily. He practices at Willowdale about two to three hours a day. "I really love and enjoy the game,” said Dayton. "I want to get really good at it," reflects Dayton.

Dayton is a member of the Jr. New Orleans Golf Association where he plays weekly with top golfers in his age bracket. This gives him constant opportunities to improve his game. "I’m working on improving my putting. I find that the most difficult area, I want to be more precise," said Dayton. His impressive summer schedule will give him the time to impove his game.

Playing with the top golfers across the state and beyond is what Dayton most looks forward to. He will participate in the Future Masters Tournament in Dothan, Alabama, the Louisiana Jr. Amateur in Monroe, Louisiana, the Westfield PGA Qualifier in Alexander, Louisiana, and the Big Eye State Qualifier in Lafeyette, Louisiana. These tournaments will keep Dayton at the top of his game.

At the end of the summer, Dayton only hopes to be a better, serious golfer. A talented golfer that top colleges will consider making a part of their team.
