Senior olympians face off at annual track and field events

St. Charles Parish senior citizens are currently participating in the 2009 Senior Olympic games, which includes track and field and shuffleboard.
The annual Senior Olympics kicked off April 14 with track and field events at Destrehan High School. St. Charles Parish participants 60 years old and up were able to compete with others from southeastern Louisiana, including St. John, St. James and Terrebonne parishes.

On Thursday, April 16 the horseshoe event is set for 8:30 a.m., followed by table tennis and basketball free throw at noon.

Bowling doubles will take place on Friday, April 17 and Saturday, April 18 at the Creole Lanes in Houma at 8:30 a.m., followed by mixed doubles at noon. Singles play is also set for 8:30 a.m. on April 18.

The celebration banquet and arts and crafts event is set for Wednesday, April 29 at the Houma Municipal Auditorium at 9:30 a.m.
